ServicesFinal Expense Insurance

Final Expense Insurance in Kyle, TX

Final expense insurance is a modest permanent policy that pays your beneficiary cash for funeral costs and any bills left behind, so nobody has to put them on a credit card. We help you pick an amount that fits, get it in place and revisit it as the years pass.

A small policy with one clear job

Final expense coverage is basically whole life insurance with a smaller face amount. The premium stays the same each month, the policy does not end at a certain age, and it builds a little cash value over time. Many clients buy it in their 50s, 60s or 70s, often just after a larger term policy has run out.

The money goes to your beneficiary, who chooses how to spend it: the funeral home, a headstone, a leftover medical bill, airfare for relatives coming from out of town. A prepaid funeral contract is different. It pays a single funeral home for a set list of goods and services, and the money stays with that home.

Having the policy issued is the easy part. Keeping it working takes some care over the years. A beneficiary who has passed away, a premium payment that failed after a bank change, or a face amount that no longer keeps up with costs can quietly break the plan. We watch those details alongside you.

What we handle with you

Sizing the face amount

We begin with the send-off you have in mind, cremation or a traditional burial, a memorial service, a cemetery plot, and any balances you don't want passed on. The policy is sized to that figure rather than padded.

Matching the policy to your health

If you can answer a short set of health questions, a simplified issue policy usually pays the full amount from the first day. If your health makes that hard, a guaranteed issue policy accepts you anyway, with a waiting period on the full benefit that we explain before you apply.

Beneficiary setup

Together we name a first-choice beneficiary and a backup, using full legal names and each person's relationship to you. Precise wording helps a claim move along without delays.

Reading a policy you already own

Have an older policy tucked in a drawer, even one bought decades ago? We'll review it together and tell you plainly whether it's still active, whether the amount is enough and whether it makes sense to keep it as it is.

Periodic checkups

From time to time we sit down with you again and look at the beneficiaries, the payment method and whether the amount still covers what you meant it to cover.

When final expense coverage makes sense

  • Your term coverage is winding down

Many term policies expire in a person's 60s, just as end-of-life costs come closer. A small permanent policy covers that stretch for good.

  • Your kids would end up footing the bill

If your children would divide funeral costs on their credit cards, a modest policy lifts that burden.

  • An insurer said no in the past

An earlier health problem doesn't rule you out. Guaranteed issue policies are built for people who couldn't get approved for other coverage.

  • The beneficiary line is out of date

A former spouse, a parent who has passed, or just "my estate" listed on an old policy can hold up a claim or send the money where you never meant it to go.

  • Your wishes aren't written down

Putting a policy in place is a natural moment to record what you want and who should handle it.

How it works, start to finish

  1. 1

    A first phone conversation

We ask about your wishes, your age, your general health and any coverage you already carry. There's no pressure to decide on that call.

  2. 2

    Options laid out in writing

You get the policy types and face amounts that fit, with the monthly premium for each. Compare them side by side and talk it over with family first if you like.

  3. 3

    A short application

Most applications are a set of health questions answered by phone, with no medical exam. We stay on the line and walk through each question with you.

  4. 4

    Policy delivery and a read-through

When the policy arrives, we go over the face amount, any waiting period, your beneficiaries and the premium draft date. Then keep it somewhere your family can find it.

  5. 5

    Checking back over the years

A move, a new bank account, a grandchild you want to add as a backup beneficiary. Small updates like these keep the plan working the way you set it up.

What shapes your premium

Final expense premiums are set when you apply, and on most policies they stay level for life. What you pay comes down to a handful of things. We'll show you how each one moves your number before you choose anything.

Your age when you apply
The younger you are at purchase, the lower the level premium you lock in. Waiting a few years raises it, even if your health stays the same.
Your health answers
Simplified issue policies price in your answers to the health questions. Guaranteed issue costs more because the insurer asks nothing at all.
The face amount
A policy sized for a simple cremation costs less than one sized for a full burial, a plot and outstanding bills.
Tobacco use
Smokers and other tobacco users pay more on nearly every policy.
Optional riders
Some policies offer add-ons such as an accidental death rider. We explain each one so you only pay for what you'd actually use.

Final expense questions we hear often

Something not covered here? (512) 883-4460

Is a medical exam required?

Usually not. Most final expense policies use a short list of health questions instead of an exam, and guaranteed issue policies skip health questions entirely.

How long is the waiting period with guaranteed issue?

These policies typically have a graded benefit for roughly the first two years. If death from natural causes happens in that window, your beneficiary usually receives the premiums you paid plus some interest rather than the full benefit. Accidental death is often paid in full from the start. You will see the exact terms of any policy before you apply.

Must my beneficiary spend the money on the funeral?

No. The money goes to the person you name, and they decide what to do with it. Most families put it toward the funeral and final bills, but it is not limited to those.

Is this different from a prepaid funeral?

Yes. A prepaid plan pays one funeral home ahead of time for a fixed package. Final expense insurance pays cash to your beneficiary, so the money still works if plans change, you move or the funeral home closes.

Does the premium go up with age?

Not on most final expense policies. The monthly rate is set the day the policy is issued. As long as you keep paying, the coverage stays in force for life, however long you live. We confirm this on every policy we show you.

Can you help if I live outside Kyle?

Yes. We work with clients in San Marcos, Buda, Lockhart, Wimberley and other nearby towns, and almost all of it is handled by phone.
